Well Nathan arrived in Vancouver just in time for a record setting winter! We have been stuck in the house for three days with record temperatures, amounts of snow and the first cross country white Christmas in many, many years (I heard 30 and 50 years, depending on the source)  Nate's days have been filled with new adventures! because of the weather he has missed the visits from family and friends but has been falling into a very nice routine of long sleeps to help mom out a bit.  Nate has developed a fondness for bathtime and especially loves the head cleaning. The bath isn't so bad now that dad has figured out a good temperature for the little guy!  The first video chat was had online with Great Auntie M on the Island who is also stranded on her little hill in Union Bay. Nate enjoyed his first Robbie Burns dinner and is greatly anticipating his first Christmas with family.  Nate got to meet mom and dad's good friends Dave and Karen Heskin this week!!! what fun!

The cold weather is keeping us inside. Nate got to see snow for the first time, well, I suppose it just seemed brighter than normal. We have had some very nice visits as well. Everything is going great as we get closer to Christmas! Sarah wanted me to write that Nate's Cord finally fell off today! a big event for sure!

1st week birthday

well little Nate celebrated his first birthday weekend in style! many visitors came by including a surprise visit from Auntie Leslee from Sudbury who came in for the weekend. Nate met his great Auntie Em as well and had visits from Craig, Rajan and Mom's good friends Ana Buljan and Dawn Malcolm. We also had dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's and visited with Aunt Megan and Uncle Jeremy (cousin Harper was there too!). Grandma Larsen visits regularly and also had us all over for a wonderful lunch where we were surprised by the arrival of Auntie Leslee.

On Tuesday our Midwife Corinna came by to check on Nate and he had a big surprise for her when she was bouncing him up and down with no clothes on...the water works started flowing! Corinna was also very happy that Nate was so quickly back up to his birth weight. Later that same day, Nate had a double surprise for mom when she was least expecting it.

All in all it was a fun, and social week. Dad decided not to work in December so that he could stay home with the family, and he is so glad he did!

Nate is welcomed into the world

Nathan Trevor Larsen arrived on November 30th, 2008 at 3:50 p.m. He weighed in at 4.105 kg. (you do the math for lbs, it's just over 9 lbs) He came to us via C-section at the Burnaby General Hospital under the guidance of the wonderful nurses and doctors there as well as our amazing, supportive and informative midwives June, Grace and Corinna who were all there during Sarah's 19 hours of labour. We stayed in the hospital from Sunday until Tuesday morning at which point Sarah was discharged and we bundled up our beautiful boy for his first car ride home. Our midwives made several visits to check on us to make sure all was going well, which it indeed was. After 5 days here, Nate is back up to his birth weight and is breast-feeding perfectly. we are all so happy and excited to begin our lives together.
